In an Australian airplane, an iPhone started to ct weirdly by glowing red and emitting dense smoke causing an emergency in plane!
The iPhone seems to be an iPhone 4S and after its being extinguished, it had a burnt area at the black plastic and shattered glass.
The burnt area was probably caused due to an overheating of the battery.
This case was described as self-combustion and Apple said nothing about this!
