Here is a guide to help you in updating and unlocking your iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1!
You will be needing the following:
At the very beginning connect your iDevice with your PC and start Redsn0w.
Choose Extras.
Then Custom IPSW
Redsn0w will do its work and load. Then click on Pwned DFU.
Now you should get this window, where you should be sure your device is OFF and PLUGGED IN to your computer. If it was so, then click on Next.
Finally, to start the installation you have to follow the steps you will be seeing to enter the DFU mode, where you should immediately hold the Power button and home button for few seconds. Then you should keep pressing the home button while releasing the Power button till the installation begins.
